BALANCING ACTS tells the stories of 6 men and women’s experience of depression, and the unique ways they find to cope: from diving and boxing to sex and song.

Based on candid interviews, we use film and verbatim performance to re-create their worlds, from a 61-year-old agoraphobic man to a 27-year-old deep sea diver.

The show aims to build a deeper emotional insight into the condition, to encourage new conversations and explore ways to deal with and potentially overcome it.
