Britney is the very true story of two best friends coming to terms with one being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

It’s told in the way we rationalised it to each other, with a host of characters including: a stuffed dog and talented impressionist, a laddie anaesthetist, some Hollywood Producers, Rubeus Hagrid, the population of a small Welsh town, the two best friends in question (us) and the all-important star of the show: Britney the brain tumour, not wildly dissimilar to Britney Spears in the breakdown years. Hilarious, poignant and touching, this show is an uplifting reminder that laughter is sometimes the best medicine.* It’s about how often the funniest stuff happens at the worst of times. A show with a lot of heart, and a brain tumour.

Following a sell-out, critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh festival with Assembly, Britney returns for its final run! The debut show from prize-winning playwright Charly Clive and ex-Cambridge Footlight Ellen Robertson, Britney is a sketch-style cum cabaret cum play cum comedy cum one cum all cum to the show.

“I have never been so moved by a Fringe performance before. Britney touched me in ways no comedy show has.” ★★★★★ Edin Blogger

“Witty, lively and often heartwarming, Britney is a hilarious and hugely watchable production.” ★★★★ Broadway Baby

*Ultimately the best medicine is the operation and please, if you have a brain tumour, seek urgent medical attention.

“This is a terrific show. Hilarious, clever, poignant and performed by the funniest double act I have seen for years. Highly recommended indeed” Tony Gardner, actor and writer

“I loved Britney – it’s a smart, funny piece of comic theatre that handles a sensitive subject with a sure and witty touch. It deserves as wide an audience as possible” Christopher Haydon, Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre

“What might surprise you, though, is that Britney is a true story based on the experiences of its two-strong cast, but also that it’s a laugh-out-loud, truly uplifting comedy.” NetDoctor
