Theatre. 25th – 29th Jan, 19:45, £12.
Music, sex, fishnets, tits and spitting.
A two-girl escape from everything sugar and spice.
‘I was the punk. I was born punk. But she was my rock. The only one I ever had.’
Fran & Leni is a full-throttle tale of escape and lifelong friendship.
In the 40th anniversary year of Punk, Old Trunk want to explore the freedom women found in the brash rudeness of Punk, the anarchic thrill in kicking off the traditional expectations of femininity, the joy in being what we really are inside. Glorious mess.
Featuring the voices of Phillip Jupitus, Lizzie Roper, Alan Cox, Ricky Champ & Marc Mollica, & the music of Fi & Dave Dulake of Tuppenny Bunters as ‘The Rips’
“A bittersweet rampage through a friendship that weathers one of Britain’s great social upheavals. Profanity meets poetry…energetic performances that balance knife-edged irony with heart-rending sensitivity while thrashing out foul-mouthed quips…a provocative, observational piece.” ★★★★ – The Stage
“Bittersweet story of two girls’ rebellion against the machine. At times laugh out loud funny, at others provocative, and at others deeply sad, Fran & Leni lives up to its feminist punk inspirations” ★★★★ – To Do List
“Brings the tale of two lost punk souls alive…Fran & Leni is a darkly romantic comedy that is effortlessly delivered and full of life.” – The F Word
Written by award-winning writer Sadie Hasler (Russell Howard’s Good News, BBC’s Walk On The Wild Side, Rebecca Front’s Little Cracker)
