The Misfit Analysis

by Access All Areas and Cian Binchy

Forge | 6pm | 2 – 6 Mar | £10

Advance Sales Notice: Our See Tickets allocation goes off-sale a few hours before the show, and the day before for matinee performances: this doesn't mean tickets are unavailable. On the day, you can normally get tickets on the door or on Yplan - please keep an eye on our twitter feed for news on sold out shows.

Cian has autism. He likes to spin tin-openers. He’s taught all the actors on ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’ how to be autistic. They’re very good at it.

Journeying through Cian’s mischievous mind, ‘The Misfit Analysis’ takes us through a world of wheelchairs and blow up dolls in an unconventional exploration of an autistic mind. This is not Rain Man. Using multi-media, video projection and his unique brand of performance poetry, Cian playfully questions the place of disability in today’s world.

After a sell out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and appearances on BBC 1, The Misfit Analysis launches in London as part of VAULT Festival 2016.

Producing Company: Access All Areas
Winner of the Guardian University Award for diversity.

Access All Areas is an award winning company that makes urban and disruptive performance with learning disabled artists. With their recent work, Access All Areas has partnered with venues to put learning-disabled voices centre-stage in leading theatres around the country, defying the frequent assumption that disabled theatre is community theatre. Work on Rift’s ‘The Trial’ in 2013 was a turning point for the company, opening them up to national attention. In 2013/14 Access All Areas produced and toured ‘Eye Queue Hear’, an audio walking tour performance based on reclaiming the concept of the IQ test (“Philosophical, mischievous, and exuberantly accessible” – The Stage. “An epic moment … a beautifully surreal spin on the humdrum” – Disability Arts Online”). The show ran to sold out audiences throughout 2014. ‘The Misfit Analysis’ launches the company’s solo-artists mentoring programme. (“fascinating and wildly creative” – Lyn Gardner on ‘The Misfit Analysis’ – The Guardian)
